Story Brief: In Homer's Odyssey, Odysseus and his crew sail past the island of the Sirens, whose enchanting voices lure sailors to their doom by causing them to crash into the rocks. Forewarned by the sorceress Circe, Odysseus orders his men to plug their ears with beeswax to avoid hearing the Sirens' song. However, out of curiosity, Odysseus wishes to hear the song himself. He commands his crew to tie him to the mast of the ship and orders them not to release him, no matter how much he begs. As they sail past the Sirens, Odysseus is captivated by their voices and desperately struggles to break free, but his crew follows his orders, and they pass safely by the dangerous waters.
